Things We Go Through…
I’ve been thinking on this topic a little since Jon’s talk at the last SI, so I decided to put togeather a small section on some bible figures and just what they went through throughout thier recorded life. I suppose I’ll start with Mary.
Research says she was a teen. I suppose that means she was my age, being that I’m a teen. She was engaged to some guy, and she becomes pregnant. Interesting. Imagine this. I don’t care if I’m a guy, I can pretty much figure out what would go on. “It was the Holy Spirit,” you say. All your friends are like ‘yeah…’ Imagine explaining that to your parents! “An Angle came to me and told me I was gonna have a kid and he was gonna be the Son of God.” Have fun explaining that one to Pops.
But what does Mary say? ‘I am the Lord’s Servant.’ Imagine that! She’s just been stuck with quite possibly one of the largest societal woes of the time, or any time for that matter, and what does she do? She ‘ponders all these things in her heart.’ Pretty awesome.
Are willing to do that? Lets put this in the perspective of a guy. Screw that, I’m not even sure how to do that. Would I be willing to risk the soiling of my reputation and my relationship (and possibly my life for that matter) for God? It’s a question that’s very easily affimed but rarely confirmed. But I think that that’s something we all need to concider. A relationship with God like one with a Football team. You can’t just stop liking them when they lose a few games. Are we willing to do God’s Will for Better or for Worse? It’s a tough thought.
